I’m impressed, Mountain View! I went out for a 15-minute walk this morning in my neighborhood while the sun was peeking out, and I was surprised to immediately see 5 other walkers! Not that I think my neighborhood is inactive, it was just unusual to see an immediate flurry of activity in my relatively quiet neighborhood.
I had just finished reading Tara Parker-Pope’s morning blog on how a less active American workforce is packing on the pounds, so I was intrigued and started counting people that I saw out exercising. In just a 15-minute lap around my neighborhood, I saw 16 walkers (three pushing baby strollers), 2 cyclists, and 1 runner! Not too shabby considering that I walked about half a mile and for just a few minutes.
The road to better health can start with just a few minutes per day of walking or other mild to moderate cardiovascular activity.
